For nearly 50 years, the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation has worked hard to fulfill its goal of making our community a great place to live.  Since 1960, more than 200 charitable funds have been established and the Foundation has made nearly $27 million in grants and distributions in support of nonprofit organizations - more than $18 million of that during the past decade. However, much work remains and the current economic climate has only intensified the task of purposeful philanthropy throughout the Cass-Clay county area served by the Foundation. As the future unfolds on our next 50 years of service to the community, the Board of Governors of the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation has created the Community Horizons Alliance. This innovative program will engage individuals, businesses, foundations and organizations in supporting the changing charitable needs of our community by increasing the vision of the Foundation and the support for its mission of enriching the quality of life for the people of Cass and Clay counties. While many of the financial resources distributed by the Foundation come from permanently endowed funds, resources from the Alliance will be disbursed using a pass- through process to make them available for a particular immediate or short-term community need or project. A portion of your tax-deductible contribution to the Community Horizons Alliance will increase the funds available to respond to the needs of the community through our Community Grant Round.

The remainder will help sustain the ongoing operation of the Foundation; increasing our ability to serve, support and educate nonprofit organizations, individual donors, community groups and professional advisors. The Community Horizons Alliance is a fresh approach to gift-giving and the philanthropic mission of the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation - it encourages participants to support the evolving needs of the community.  As participation in the Community Horizons Alliance grows, so too will its effect on the improvement of the communities we serve. Community Horizons Alliance contributors will be listed within all publications of the Foundation, including the bimonthly newsletter and Annual Report, as well as on our web site. Our founders built the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation based on their vision nearly a half century ago.  They believed that when many join forces, the entire community benefits.  As we look to the future, we remain committed to building and supporting a strong community...we invite you to join us.
