2005 CommUNITY Event
The Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation's second annual Celebration of CommUNITY, held at the Holiday Inn, proved to be even more impressive than the last. With over 300 guests in attendance the evening provided a fitting celebration of the group's commitment to the communities of Cass County, North Dakota, and Clay County, Minnesota.
As part of the 2005 celebration, we are proud to announce the recipients of both the prestigious Arthur W. Cupler Award and the ECHO (Everyone Can Help Out) Awards.
The prestigious Arthur W. Cupler Award was awarded to George A. Sinner in honor of his lifetime commitment to making a critical difference in our community. Arthur W. Cupler was one of the forwarding thinking founders of the FM Area Foundation whose vision and principals left a lasting legacy.
The ECHO Award was bestowed upon Julie Gunkelman in order to celebrate her commitment to our communities through her work at CHARISM. ECHO award winners, whose efforts often go unnoticed, are deeply invested in building social capital. The Foundation proudly extends congratulations to George "Bud" Sinner and Julie Gunkelman on their achievements.
The evenings events also featured:
- Judy Siegle - well known local speaker and author
- Music by the Fargo-Moorhead Youth Symphony
- Danika Vigesaa, the 2005 Celebration of Women and their Arts award recipient, with a vocal selection
- visual pieces representing the impact made by various grants including Presentation Partners, Barnesville Area Helpers, Mental Health Association in North Dakota, Muscular Dystrophy Association of the Red River Valley, The Fargo Theatre and the Learning Bank
