The Women's Fund, a fund of the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation, holds an annual grant round to fund programming for children in need of care, the economic well being of women and children, and women in leadership. Requests must be in Cass County, North Dakota or Clay County, Minnesota. Applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations.
The 2009 Grant Round has closed. The annual grant round is generally held in the fall of the year. Check back for the 2010 deadline.

The following grants were approved from the Women's Fund during the 2009 granting session: · Boys & Girls Club of the Red River Valley -- $1,000 for SMART Girls project promoting positive values and behaviors and positive peer pressure among girls in a critical time of adolescence. · CHARISM -- $686 for Living, Learning & Leading program, which trains staff to reinforce literacy and build positive social skills for New American and low-income children. · Child Care Resource & Referral -- $2,000 for North Dakota Quality Rating & Improvement System Pilot to guide and support early care and education programs and equip families to make informed decisions. · Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity -- $2,000 for Women Build, which promotes women in construction while addressing housing needs. · Legal Services of Northwestern Minnesota -- $3,000 for Women's Income Initiative (WIN) to expand income and benefits available to low-income women and female heads of households. · Tri-College University -- $500 for NEW Leadership Development Institute to encourage civic participation and provide leadership training for women. · Village Family Service Center -- $1,000 for Nokomis Scholarship Program, providing funds to support families with households headed by single mothers and/or women pursuing secondary education. · YWCA of Cass Clay -- $1,000 for Shelter Children's Services to support homeless women with children in need of early childhood education and child care while residing in the shelter. |
The following grants were approved from the Women's Fund during the Fall, 2008 granting session: · Women's Network of the Red River Valley -- $2,488 for a project to work towards ending the pay gap that exists between females and males in the FM area. · Catholic Family Charities SPARCS -- $5,783 for a group intervention program for New American adolescents exposed to traumatic stress. · Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest -- $1,329 for classroom curriculum that teaches budgeting, saving, investing, and paying for college. · Fraser, LTD -- $5,000 for special needs individualized childcare. · YWCA of Cass Clay -- $3,400 for scholarship dollars to support families whose members are pursuing a secondary education. |
The following grants were approved from the Women's Fund during the Spring, 2008 granting session: · Voz de Mujer (Woman's Voice) Latina Public Issues Forum -- $1,000 · Women's Network of the Red River Valley -- $1,000 for the Women in the Lead project. |
The following grants were approved from the Women's Fund during the November, 2007 granting session: · Moorhead Community Education -- $500 for the Girls Only Program to facilitate the healthy development of 6th grade girls to enhance their own positive self-esteem, develop social skills, consider new career paths, and become leaders at their perspective schools. · Women's Business Exchange -- $1,000 for the WBE's Mentorship Building Project to host a three hour mentorship matching and building event for women.

The following grants were approved from the Women's Fund during the November, 2006 granting session: · Mujeres Unidas/Women United -- $1,000 for the Manejar para Independencia/Driving for Independence program · Habitat for Humanity -- $1,000 for the Women Build Project, the first of its kind in North Dakota · YWCA -- $700 for the Shelter Faith Community Nurse Project · AAUW -- $300 for the "College, it can work for you" Workshop
