Mike Hannaher Interim Executive Director/Director of Development mike@areafoundation.org
Mike Hannaher joined the Foundation as Director of Development in May, 2006. Mike’s primary role with the Foundation is to assist current and prospective donors in meeting their philanthropic and charitable goals by planning, coordinating and administering the Foundation’s fund development activities. He works closely with professional advisors in our community to help donors complete their planned giving dreams and objectives.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Mike was a partner in a Moorhead law firm for over 31 years. He has been an active member of the local volunteer community, having served on numerous non-profit boards, including service on the Board of Governors of the Foundation and United Way of Cass Clay.
Mike is a life-long resident of the Fargo-Moorhead community, the fourth generation of his family to live, work and raise a family here. He and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Moorhead and have two daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys golf and RedHawks baseball.

Carol Gustad, CPA Finance Director carol@areafoundation.org
Carol Gustad has been with the Foundation since 2001. Her experiences, attention to detail, and commitment have made a great contribution to the Foundation team. Implementing a new software system, creating new report formats and analyzing investments, scratches the surface of her potential. With a professional commitment to accuracy, donors have confidence in the financial systems of the Foundation.
Carol is a licensed CPA and has work experience with public, private and nonprofit businesses. She assumes the responsibilities of all the accounting and reporting functions of the Foundation. A graduate of both Mankato State University and Moorhead State University, Carol holds degrees in Business Administration and Accounting.
A recognized volunteer with her children’s activities it’s no surprise that she often serves as the volunteer treasurer. Any other spare time finds Carol in the garden, walking the dog, stitching or baking.

Cher Hersrud Donor Services Associate cher@areafoundation.org
Cher Hersrud joined the Foundation in June, 2008, after ten years of managing a statewide program for rural nonprofit organizations and communities. She will provide support to Foundation donors, coordinate the grants and scholarship process, and facilitate the Foundation's marketing efforts.
Cher has more than twenty years of experience within the nonprofit sector and has received three fellowships for national research related to North Dakota.
She and her husband Doug live in rural Moorhead. She spends a majority of her free time with her three grandchildren.

Nyla Olson Administrative Assistant nyla@areafoundation.org
Nyla Olson joined the staff of the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation in April of 2005. In a part-time administrative support position, she is responsible for general assistance to the Foundation in varying administrative and financial aspects. Nyla comes to the Foundation with extensive support and office managerial experience. She was the office manager for the Moorhead site of Fiebiger, Swanson, West & Co., PLLP, for seven years prior to joining the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation. Preceding the accounting firm, she was a professional legal secretary for over ten years in the Minneapolis and Fargo-Moorhead areas.
Nyla is originally from Cooperstown, North Dakota. She attended North Dakota State University and graduated from Interstate Business College with a legal secretary associate certificate. Nyla and her husband, Roger, currently live in Moorhead and have a combined family of five children.

Betsy Dreessen Women's Fund Development Manager womensfund@areafoundation.org
Betsy Dreessen has been hired by the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation as the part-time Development Manager for the Women's Fund. She will lead and coordinate the development efforts to increase the Women's Fund Endowment; focusing on the cultivation of new donors and managing existing donor relationships.
Betsy has a background in accounting and is involved in several volunteer activities. She lives in Moorhead with her husband Darren and twin girls, Elizabeth and Olivia. |
